I was born and raised in Sunnyvale, California. One summer, my beautiful mother threw my sister and I into an acting camp with the California Theatre Center (CTC). That summer I played my first role on stage, a goblin in A Midsummer Night's Dream. (There are no goblins in A Midsummer Night's Dream.) The next summer, I met one of my dearest friends, Dahlia, who hooked me into auditioning for CTC's professional school series and for the subsequent summer's Intermediate Conservatory. I spent my summers, from age nine to fifteen, with CTC. I loved my friends of the camp nearly as much as I loved the acting, voice and speech, movement, dialect, stage combat and shop classes we took. I playing with my friends more than I loved playing on stage.

But when I hit fifteen, I wanted something more. I decided to leave CTC and pursue training at American Conservatory Theatre and San Jose Repertory. Instead of pursuing a bunch of AP classes, I
